Dr. V. Candavelou (IAS, 1997, AGMUT cadre) has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Goa. He takes over from Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel (IAS, 1991, AGMUT cadre), who recently assumed the role of Secretary for the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, following Alka Tiwari’s (IAS, 1988, Jharkhand cadre) return to her parent cadre.
Before this appointment, Dr. Candavelou served as Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Goa, handling significant portfolios such as finance, mines, and planning & statistics. His promotion to Chief Secretary marks him as the first officer from the IAS 1997 batch to hold this position.
