Dehradun: The Chief Secretary directed the Transport Department and the concerned departmental officials to make the concept of green transportation in Uttarakhand a reality and to make the concept of green transportation a reality. In line with the Prime Minister’s target of 2030 regarding electric vehicles, the policy should include provision of better incentives for all – manufacturers, consumers and operators – so that a better ecosystem of electric vehicles can be developed.
Along with better incentives, he also directed to make provision for effective and quick monitoring mechanism in the policy for quick resolution of obstacles coming in the way of electric vehicle adoption.
Secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey and Transport Department told through presentation that to create a favorable environment for electric vehicles in Uttarakhand, better incentives are being provided in this policy for everyone from manufacturers to consumers, operators and charging station establishment, etc. He said that this policy talks about provision of incentives for carbon credit benefit, incentives for industry side and consumer side, capital subsidy, stamp duty, interest subsidy, land rebate, research and development facility, etc.
This will include provision of incentives for different categories of vehicles such as two wheeler, three wheeler, four wheeler, E bus etc.
He informed that the total number of vehicles in India is 34 crores. Which includes 61.65 lakh electric vehicles.
The total number of vehicles in Uttarakhand is 4215496, in which the total number of electric vehicles is 84614.
Principal Secretary R Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey, Dr. R Rajesh Kumar and SN Pandey along with concerned officials were present in the meeting.
