Delhi/Dehradun: There is good news for rail passengers in Uttarakhand. The Railway Ministry has approved increasing the frequency of the Dehradun-Tanakpur Express from weekly to tri-weekly (three days). The Ministry of Railways has issued an order to this effect.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami discussed this issue in detail during his meeting with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav in New Delhi on October 8th. Acting swiftly on the Chief Minister’s request, the Railway Ministry has approved the three-weekly Tanakpur-Dehradun train service.

According to the new timetable, the 15019 Dehradun-Tanakpur Express will now run on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, as opposed to Sundays only. The 15020 Tanakpur-Dehradun Express will now run on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, as opposed to Saturdays only.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his gratitude to the Railway Minister and the Railway Board for this decision, stating that the expansion of this rail service will facilitate easier travel between Kumaon and Garhwal.

This will not only enhance passenger convenience but also boost trade, tourism, and regional development. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, historic progress is being made to strengthen rail connectivity in Uttarakhand. Work on rail projects is progressing rapidly in many parts of the state, ensuring rail connectivity to the mountainous and border areas in the future.
