Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday participated in the ‘Welcome and Felicitation’ program organized by the personnel of Energy Corporations at the Chief Servant Sadan, Dehradun, located at the Chief Minister’s residence. Uttarakhand Vidyut Adhikari Karamchari Joint Sangharsh Morcha expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for solving various problems of the personnel of Energy Corporations.
Thanking all the employees and officers, the Chief Minister said that the real deserving of this felicitation is the people of Uttarakhand state, who gave the opportunity to serve the state. He said that Energy State was in the basic concept of Uttarakhand. To make Uttarakhand a power surplus state, everyone will have to move forward with coordination. The Chief Minister said that the State Government is getting support from the Government of India on every scheme. In the Distribution Utility Ranking released by the Ministry of Power, UPCL has secured the first position in the country in the special category Discom. The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is determined to establish Uttarakhand as a leading state in the field of energy. Work is in progress on the Lakhwar Dam Project for power generation, Jamrani Dam Multipurpose Project and Song Dam Project to solve the drinking water problems in Dehradun in the coming 50 years. The establishment of state-of-the-art GIS (Gas Insulated Substation) substations is also going on in the state. He said that work has been done to bring transparency through technology by installing 16 lakh smart meters in the state. The Chief Minister said that the power lines of Dehradun city are being made underground. UPCL has saved crores of rupees every year by controlling the overdrawal situation in real time by using state-of-the-art Automated Demand Response System. He said that a world-class disaster management conference was organized in Dehradun in 2023. Disasters cannot be stopped but the impact of disasters can be reduced. The state government has chosen a development model that balances ecology and economy. The production of green energy is being encouraged by creating coordination between economy and ecology. About 20,000 rooftop solar plants were installed under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Yojana. He said that we have to adopt the best practices of other states in our state as well. The state government is also preparing models of development in view of the coming 10, 25, 50 years.
