Expedite the work on the Sharda Corridor Project: Chief Secretary

Tanakpur (Champawat): Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan conducted a detailed field inspection of the Sharda Corridor Project, Sharda Barrage, Sharda Ghat, Kirora Nala, Boom, Batanagad, and Shyamalatal areas. He reviewed the progress of the corridor project as well as flood protection works and directed the concerned departments to expedite the work.

On Monday afternoon, the Chief Secretary inspected the models of the work under the Sharda Corridor Project at Sharda Ghat. The agency involved in the project briefed him on the work. He observed the ground situation of the Sharda Ghat and Sharda Corridor Project and issued necessary instructions to the concerned departmental officials. Following this, he conducted a field inspection of the Kirora Nala and Boom, Batanagad, and flood protection works. During his inspection of the Sharda Barrage, he reviewed the tourism and aerosports possibilities.

He obtained detailed information about the 480-meter-long span bridge from Bridkul officials. He directed for transparency and quality in construction, and effective flood protection work after complete channelization by conducting a field inspection of soil erosion in the Boom and Batanagad areas. He directed the Irrigation Department to prepare an action plan for the banks of the Sharda River. During the inspection of Batanagad, he directed for road improvements for the convenience of pilgrims visiting Maa Purnagiri Dham. The Chief Secretary also inspected Shyamalatal to strengthen spiritual, economic, and eco-tourism.

During the inspection, Kumaon Divisional Commissioner Deepak Rawat, District Magistrate Manish Kumar, Superintendent of Police Ajay Ganpati, Chief Development Officer Dr. GS Khati, ADM Krishnanath Goswami, SDM Akash Joshi, Satyajit Rai of Sharda Corridor, Rajiv Ranjan, Municipal Council President Vipin Kumar, along with senior officials and staff from various departments were present.

Sports Stadium Meritorious Players Honored

Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan honored meritorious players from the Sports Stadium at Sharda Ghat. These included Prince Kholia, bronze medalist at the National Karate Championships, Dipanshu Joshi, silver medalist at the National Karate Championships, and Akshat Bohra, bronze medalist at the North India Championships, and Harshit Thapa, bronze medalist at the Junior Nationals and Youth Khelo India Boxing Championships. District Sports Officer Chandan Singh Bisht stated that Arjun Singh, Tushar Bhatt, selected for the School Nationals in Karnataka, along with boxing coach Lalit Singh Kunwar and karate instructor Vijay Rawat were also honored.

Maa Purnagiri Temple Committee Demands Funding for Fair

Maa Purnagiri Temple Committee President Kishan Tiwari submitted a memorandum to Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan in the Boom area, demanding government funding for the three-month fair held at the Shaktipeeth after Holi. He stated that millions of devotees flock to the fair every year. The fair is run with expenses incurred from car parking, tonsure, and other services. Chief Secretary directed to expedite flood protection works

Reviewed Champawat’s development works with officials in a meeting held at the Banbasa auditorium

Banbasa (Champawat). State Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, in a meeting held at the Banbasa NHPC auditorium, assessed the progress of important development projects being implemented in Champawat district and sought information from officials. He also issued necessary instructions to the officials. In the meeting, the Chief Secretary conducted a detailed review of the Sharda Corridor, the Inland Port Authority, the Tanakpur-Bageshwar rail line, flood management works, the Tanakpur-Banbasa Water Supply Scheme, the construction of ISBT Tanakpur, and the bridges being constructed by BRIDCOOL, and directed them to expedite the work.

He also directed the District Magistrate regarding the Sharda River Front and related projects, and the coordination of the Purnagiri Ropeway with the Sharda Corridor. He stressed on getting the flood protection works costing less than five crore approved through CM announcement and taking them forward at a fast pace. He inquired about the progress of Dipteshwar and Kurmu Lake projects. Earlier, on the arrival of the Chief Secretary at Banbasa NHPC helipad, Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat, DM Manish Kumar, SP Ajay Ganpati, CDO Dr. GS Khati, ADM Krishnanath Goswami etc. gave him a warm welcome.
