Dehradun. Twenty-five people tragically died in a massive fire at a nightclub in Arpora, Goa. Five people from Uttarakhand were among the deceased. A wave of grief swept across Uttarakhand upon receiving this information. State Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his deep sorrow in a post on the social media platform X.
CM Pushkar Singh Dhami wrote in the X post, “I have received the extremely sad news of the death of five people from Uttarakhand in the massive fire in Arpora, Goa. I express my condolences to the bereaved families. In this hour of grief, the state government is committed to providing all possible assistance to the families of the deceased. We are in constant contact with the Goa government to ensure that the bodies of the deceased are returned to their families as soon as possible.”
CM Dhami further said, “I pray to God that the souls of those who lost their lives in this unfortunate incident rest in His feet and that He grants the bereaved families the strength to bear this unbearable pain.”
Earlier, CM Dhami spoke with Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant over the phone on Sunday to receive detailed information about the incident. He requested the Goa government to immediately contact the families of those affected if they are identified as Uttarakhand residents and ensure necessary assistance. The Goa Chief Minister assured CM Dhami that all possible medical and administrative assistance is being provided to all affected.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant confirmed that 25 people have lost their lives and six were injured in the accident. All six injured are in stable condition. Chief Minister Sawant also visited the site of the accident. Expressing grief over the incident, he ordered a magisterial inquiry to determine the cause and fix responsibility.
