Former IAS officer Satya Gopal has resigned from the post of chairman of Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Rera)

Chandigarh: Retired IAS officer Satya Gopal has resigned from the post of chairman of Real Estate Regulatory Authority (Rera), Punjab. The resignation has been accepted by the governor, said a notification issued by the department of housing and urban planning on Wednesday. Satya Gopal, a former additional chief secretary of Delhi, was considered close to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and was appointed as the Rera chairman by AAP govt in Punjab in December 2022, following his retirement in July that year. The opposition parties in the state had cried foul over his appointment. Last year, the Union home ministry had served a notice to Satya Prakash for allegedly giving financial benefits to two electricity distribution companies in 2021 while serving as the additional chief secretary in the Delhi government’s power department.

Punjab governor Banwarilal Purohit has resigned for personal reasons. The BJP’s victory in the Chandigarh mayoral polls faced allegations of ballot paper tampering. The AAP approached the Punjab and Haryana high court seeking fresh polls, and the Supreme Court will consider an AAP councillor’s plea for an urgent hearing.

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal claims in a post on X that seven of his party MLAs were contacted by an unidentified group, leading to the current inquiry by the Delhi Police crime branch.
