Dehradun: Four villages of Uttarakhand were honored with the Best Tourism Village Award. This award was given by the Ministry of Tourism in a program held in Delhi on Friday on World Tourism Day. To promote rural tourism, the Ministry organizes the Best Tourism Village Competition at the national level every year. Last year, Pithoragarh district received the Best Tourism Village Award in Sarmoli village. This time four villages were selected, in which Jakhol village of Uttarkashi was awarded for adventure tourism, Harshil and Gunji villages of Pithoragarh district were awarded for Vibrant Village and Soopi village of Nainital district was awarded for agricultural tourism.
At the same time, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that on the occasion of World Tourism Day, it is a matter of great pride for Uttarakhand that four villages of the state, Jakhol, Soopi, Harshil and Gunji, received the Best Tourism Village Award. The state government is fully committed to promote tourism in the state. The state government’s home stay scheme is proving to be very important in this regard. Apart from this, our government is also promoting adventure tourism activities in the state along with developing new tourist destinations. This is also helping in generating employment in the state.
