Government and administration geared up for safe, smooth and well-organized Chardham Yatra, Chief Secretary held a meeting regarding the preparations

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Shri Anand Bardhan held a meeting with the officials in his auditorium at the Secretariat on Saturday regarding the preparations for safe, smooth and well-organized Chardham Yatra. He has instructed all the departments to complete their preparations in a timely manner for the solid arrangements of the Chardham Yatra route.

Travel routes should be repaired before Chardham Yatra: Chief Secretary

In continuation of his earlier instructions, the Chief Secretary took feedback from Secretary Shri Yugal Kishore Pant regarding the preparations from Dehradun to Kedarnath, Secretary Dr. R Rajesh Kumar regarding the Badrinath Yatra route, Secretary Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam regarding Gangotri Dham and Dr. Neeraj Khairwal regarding the preparations of Yamunotri Dham. He instructed the District Magistrates to comply with the suggestions received from all the secretaries or rectify the shortcomings. Assessing all the requirements on the Yatra route, instructions have been given to make all arrangements right before the start of the Yatra. He instructed the implementing agencies to take the completion of the work with sensitivity and on time seriously. He instructed to ensure the provision of basic facilities at each Dham and their Yatra routes. He also instructed UPCL to fix the problem of low-voltage in the Dhams soon.

The number of health check-up centres should be increased at the Yatra registration sites

The Chief Secretary instructed to make the hospital being built in Kedarnath functional before the start of the Yatra. Along with this, he also instructed to increase the health check-up centres, stressing on the extreme need for preventive measures for a safe Yatra. He said that the number of health screening centres should be increased in Haridwar, Rishikesh and Vikasnagar so that health check-up can be done at the beginning of the Yatra itself. The Chief Secretary, stressing on the arrangement of multi-level parking, said that more and more parking places should be identified. Said that arrangements for accommodation, food and health checkup etc. should be ensured near the parking places. He said that traffic management plan should be prepared on all the Yatra routes according to the local conditions and alternative routes.

‘Smriti Van’ should be identified for tree plantation by the devotees on the Yatra routes

The Chief Secretary also talked about identifying places for Smriti Van for tree plantation by the devotees on the Yatra routes. He said that the desired devotees can plant trees to make these moments memorable.

Digital display boards should be arranged for information about traffic jams etc.

The Chief Secretary said that a mechanism should be prepared so that the passengers in the long queues behind due to accidents or land slides on the Yatra routes can get proper information about the reasons for the jam. He said that for this, digital display boards can be installed on the Yatra routes, which will provide information about which incident has happened at which place, due to which there is a jam. For this, he directed the Secretary Public Works Department to ensure arrangements. He said that till this system is implemented, this information should be made available through bulk SMS and bulk WhatsApp messages. He directed that the treatment of potential landslide areas should be done soon. He said that prompt action should also be taken on long-term treatment for these landslide areas.

RFID tags should be made for service providers: Chief Secretary

The Chief Secretary also directed to pay special attention to cleanliness on the travel routes. He also directed ‘Sulabh’ to ensure regular cleaning and water arrangements. He said that this arrangement should be ensured in the entire state for cleanliness. For this, he also said that funds should be made available from the tied fund for cleanliness of Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board and 15th Finance Commission. He directed to make RFID tags for all types of service providers including shopkeepers and horse/cart operators in all the four Dhams. He directed the District Magistrates to ensure that arrangements are made for the systematic setting up of tents etc. for the stay of devotees at the Dhams.

On this occasion, Secretary Mr. Shailesh Bagoli, Mr. Nitesh Kumar Jha, Mr. Sachin Kurve, Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushottam, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Mr. Chandresh Kumar Yadav, Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, Dr. Neeraj Khairwal, Commissioner Garhwal Mr. Vinay Shankar Pandey, Secretary Mr. Yugal Kishore Pant, Director General of Information Mr. Banshidhar Tiwari along with District Magistrates and other senior officers of the districts related to the Chardham and Yatra routes were present through video conferencing.
