Governor administered oath to Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court Chief Justice Guhanathan Narendra, oath ceremony held at Dehradun Raj Bhavan

Dehradun: Narendra ji has recently been appointed Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court. Today, in the swearing-in ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan in the capital Dehradun, Governor Gurmeet Singh administered the oath of office and secrecy to him. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was also present at the swearing-in ceremony.

Governor (Retd) Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh administered the oath to the newly appointed judge Justice Guhanathan Narendra on Thursday. The program started at 12:27 in the Raj Bhavan. Chief Secretary Radha Raturi read the warrant issued by the President appointing Justice Guhanathan Narendra as the Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, First Lady Gurmeet Kaur, Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, former Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, former Chief Minister and MP Trivendra Singh Rawat, DGP Deepam Seth, Nainital High Court Registrar General Kahkasha Khan, Secretary to the Governor Ravinath Raman, Legal Advisor Amit Kumar Sirohi, senior justices, senior officials and other dignitaries were present in the swearing-in ceremony. Earlier, the High Court Registrar General Kahkasha Khan had issued a notification and informed about the swearing-in program. High Court judges and judicial officers as well as government officials and senior lawyers were also present in the program. Let us tell you that the appointment of the Chief Justice was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium. On 25 September 2024, after the approval of the President, the Law Ministry issued an order for his appointment. He has also been a judge of Karnataka in 2015. After this, in the year 2023, he became the judge of Andhra Pradesh. Chief Justice Narendra was the most senior judge in the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. Before becoming a judge or say before promotion, he has practiced law in the High Court in Karnataka.

Let us tell you that on October 10 this year, Chief Justice of Uttarakhand Justice Ritu Bahri retired. After this, senior judge Justice Manoj Tiwari was handling the responsibility of Acting Chief Justice. After this, now Guhanathan Narendra has been made the Chief Justice.
