Haldwani: Central investigative agencies had detained Maulana Asim Qasmi of the Haldwani Bilal Mosque in connection with the Delhi Blast case. Maulana Asim Qasmi has been released after questioning. His mobile and laptop have been confiscated. The Maulana was released late last night after hours of questioning.
Maulana Asim Qasmi of the Haldwani Bilal Mosque was suspected of having links with anti-national organizations. Maulana Asim and an associate were detained late Friday night. It is reported that if necessary, the Maulana and his associate may be called for further questioning. Upon emerging from questioning, the Maulana confirmed the interrogation.
Earlier, the NIA team conducted a detailed interrogation of the Imam of the mosque in Tallital Harinagar Ward, Nainital, for approximately three hours. He was also released after that. Thus, the NIA has released three individuals detained from Nainital and Haldwani in the Delhi blast case after questioning.
Eight people died in the Delhi blast: In fact, a car bomb exploded near the Red Fort Metro Station in the national capital, Delhi, on Monday evening, November 10th. Eight people were killed in the blast. Additionally, more than 20 others were injured. A young man from Uttarakhand was also injured in the blast. The investigation of this blast has been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The NIA has already arrested several people in this case.
Checking campaign intensified in Dehradun: On the instructions of the Dehradun SSP, a continuous checking campaign is underway throughout the district. Separate police teams, under the leadership of the respective COs, are continuously checking vehicles and individuals at all border checkpoints and internal routes.
During the checking, police checked over 1,400 vehicles and over 2,700 individuals. Additionally, necessary verification information is being collected by questioning individuals coming from outside states.
