Nandanagar/Chamoli: A total of 10 people have been reported missing due to heavy rains in Tehsil Ghat Nandanagar. Eight people are missing from Kuntri Phali and two from Dhurma. The NDRF has also left Gauchar for Nandprayag. A medical team and three 108 ambulances have been dispatched to the scene.

Two People Reported Missing in Dhurma

Heavy rains have damaged 4-5 buildings in Dhurma village of Nandanagar tehsil. There are no reports of casualties yet. The water level of the Moksha River has risen due to the rains. According to preliminary information, six buildings in Ward Kuntari Lagapali of the Nandanagar Municipal Council have been completely damaged by debris caused by heavy rains.
Ten people are reported missing in the incident. Two have been rescued. The SDRF team has reached Nandprayag. The NDRF has also left Gauchar for Nandprayag. The CMO has informed that a medical team and three 108 ambulances have been dispatched to the scene.
The weather department’s alert in Chamoli district has proven correct. Heavy rains have caused significant damage in Nandanagar. Several houses in Kuntari village have been buried under debris. Some people are still unaccounted for.
Sad news has been received of damage to nearby houses due to heavy rains in the Nandanagar Ghat area of Chamoli district. Local residents, Nandanagar police station, and administrative teams are trying to reach the scene, but the situation is so dire that reaching the scene is posing significant challenges.
Local residents say that many people they have spoken to are trapped in their homes. Some are also reported missing. However, due to darkness, they are unable to contact all of them.
The district administration team has also left for Nandanagar from the headquarters. The damage caused by the continuous rain is increasing. As the administration team and local residents speak, the number of missing people will become clearer.
Local resident Nandan Singh Rawat stated that many houses in Kuntri village have been buried under debris. There is no trace of the people. He stated that he spoke to some people trapped in their homes by phone.
District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari stated that a cloudburst has been reported in Kuntri, Nandanagar. The extent of damage and casualties is not yet clear. SDRF, police, and administration teams have rushed to the scene. JCB machines have been dispatched.
