Dehradun: Two days after the Haridwar Mansa Devi accident, a high level meeting was held at the government level on Tuesday 29 July. A big decision was taken in the meeting regarding the security of temples. The government has decided that now the temples will be made encroachment free first. All the illegal shops that have been set up around the temple or on the footpath will be removed. Apart from this, a plan for the security of temples will also be prepared with the help of experts.
Meeting chaired by Chief Secretary: Orders were also issued to all the District Magistrates of the state by the government. Actually, a meeting was held in Uttarakhand Secretariat Dehradun on Tuesday 29 July under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Vardhan. In the meeting, senior officials discussed the security of devotees and crowd management etc. at important religious places of Uttarakhand.
Special focus on the safety of devotees: The Chief Secretary said that devotees reach in large numbers at big religious places in the state on weekends and important days. In such a situation, there is a possibility of incidents like the stampede that happened two days ago in Mansa Devi. To prevent such incidents from happening again in the future, such places in and around the temple should be identified and part-time and long-term arrangements should be made there.
Encroachment around temples will be removed: It has been decided in the meeting that all the roads will be widened. Along with this, it has also been decided in the meeting that technology should also be used for crowd management in religious places. If there is a large crowd somewhere, then such a facility should be developed so that the pilgrims can be stopped immediately and arrangements for their stay can be made.
The Chief Secretary said that a route and circulation plan should be prepared for each religious place, so that there is no sudden crowd in the religious places. The places where the devotees can be stopped in case of a large crowd should be determined.
The Chief Secretary has given instructions to prepare a crowd management system using technology to assess the number of devotees. At present, in the first phase, Neelkanth, Mansa Devi, Chandi Devi, Kainchi Dham and Purnagiri Temple will be studied through experts. Engineering assistance should also be taken for all the work.
The government believes that the crowd at religious places is increasing every year. That is why some steps need to be taken keeping in mind the safety of the pilgrims. Some decisions were taken in the meeting held today on 29th July regarding the same. Let us tell you that on Sunday, July 27, at around 9 am, there was a sudden stampede on the Mansa Devi temple pedestrian path i.e. stairs. Eight people were killed in this accident, while thirty people were also injured.
After the accident, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also reached Haridwar and took stock of the incident spot. Also, why there was a stampede there. To find out what kind of rumor spread, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami had ordered a magisterial inquiry into the entire matter.
