Home Guards and Civil Defence Foundation Day: CM Dhami leads the parade, announces increase in Home Guards’ food allowance

Dehradun: A parade was held at the Home Guard Headquarters on the occasion of the Uttarakhand Home Guards and Civil Defence Foundation Day. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who attended the event, inspected the parade. During the event, CM Dhami released the Home Guards and Civil Defence Department’s souvenir 2025 and the departmental calendar 2026. The Chief Minister also made three major announcements for Home Guard volunteers: the uniform allowance, food allowance, and training allowance.

CM Pushkar Singh Dhami’s gift: Home Guards and Civil Defence Foundation Day is celebrated every year on December 6th to motivate the soldiers. However, this year, due to CM Dhami’s busy schedule, the parade was held today, December 8th. During the program, the Chief Minister congratulated all the soldiers and said that if there is a unique example of national service, it is seen among the soldiers.

Praising the Home Guard Organization: The Home Guard Organization works effectively to maintain social security and law and order in the state. They are also ready to fulfill their responsibilities in every situation. CM Dhami said that Home Guard soldiers play an important role in maintaining law and order, controlling traffic, and in religious events like the Chardham Yatra, Kumbh Mela, and Kanwar Yatra.

Announcement of Uniform, Food, and Training Allowance: Home Guard soldiers are always ready to help when needed, even during natural disasters. The CM said that in recognition of the courage and dedication of these soldiers, the state government has undertaken numerous initiatives and taken numerous decisions for their welfare and the upliftment of the organization. Consequently, the state government is fully committed to the welfare of all Home Guard soldiers. Furthering this commitment, several announcements have been made for Home Guard soldiers.

Uniforms were provided from headquarters: Commandant General Home Guard Dr. PVK Prasad stated that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has made an important announcement, following which Home Guard personnel will now receive a uniform allowance. Until now, Home Guard personnel in the state were provided uniforms from headquarters. This often caused difficulties for the personnel. Because there are thousands of Home Guard personnel, they first had to purchase the fabric and then have it stitched.

Amount not yet determined: Fitting issues often arise. This is why, except for a few states, Home Guard personnel are provided a uniform allowance throughout the country. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced the provision of a uniform allowance for Home Guard personnel. However, the amount of uniform allowance will be determined later.
