Home Secretary Shailesh Bagauli held a review meeting with the concerned departments and officials regarding the prevention of drugs in the Secretariat.

Dehradun: A review meeting was held with the concerned departments and officials regarding the prevention of drugs in the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Home Secretary Shailesh Bagauli.

In the meeting, a detailed discussion was held regarding making Uttarakhand drug-free and putting a proper rein on the criminals involved in the drug business.

The Secretary gave necessary guidelines in this regard to the Social Welfare Department, Medical and Health Department and Police Department.

The Secretary directed the Health Department to complete the process of mandatory registration of all old and new de-addiction centers operating in the state under the State Mental Health Authority (SMHA) within the prescribed time limit. Also, if the centers do not get registered within the prescribed time limit, then complete the process of immediate closure of the said centers.

He directed that with a view to investigating all the old and new de-addiction centers operating in the state, constitute an investigation committee for all the districts and regularly inspect the de-addiction centers.

Ensure deployment of trained doctors in all district hospitals and medical colleges of the state.

He also directed to conduct regular testing and registration check of all private de-addiction centres operating in the state as per the time limit mentioned in the Mental Health Care Act.

The Secretary gave necessary guidelines to the concerned departmental officers regarding setting up the structure of the State Mental Health Authority and preparing the State Mental Health Policy as soon as possible.

Secretary Social Welfare Neeraj Khairwal, Special Home Secretary Riddhima Agarwal, Additional Secretary Prakash Chandra Arya and Apoorva Pandey, SSP STF Navneet Singh, Joint Director SMHA Sumit Dev, Deputy Secretary Jaswinder Kaur, Dr. Sudhir Kumar etc. were present in the meeting.
