New Delhi: Ahead of crucial assembly polls in Haryana and later in Maharashtra Ritesh Chauhan (IAS: 2005: HP), the incumbent Managing Director of NAFED, awaits another extension beyond eight years. He will be completing his combined eight-years tenure under Central Deputation on 22.09.2024.
Currently, he is Joint Secretary under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare also functioning as CEO, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna since October 2021.
It may be underlined that he was given the additional charge of MD, National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Limited (NAFED) w.e.f. 01.05.2023 and later continued under the third extension in the additional charge till the appointment of a regular incumbent. He had replaced Rajbir Singh after he completed his eighteen-months long tenure as MD, NAFED.
Given another extension he’ll enter his ninth year of Central Deputation in a row; a rare opportunity one gets in the Govt of India.
