Dehradun: The folk festivals of Igas and Bagwal were celebrated across the state. A program dedicated to the Igas festival was held at the Chief Minister’s residence, showcasing the culture and heritage of the Devbhoomi. During the program held at the Chief Minister’s residence, CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and other BJP leaders also played Bhailo. Igas festival is celebrated on the 11th day of the Diwali festival. Igas is one of Uttarakhand’s folk festivals, showcasing the confluence of Uttarakhand’s culture. The purpose of celebrating Igas festival is to introduce future generations to our culture. Therefore, the Igas festival, organized by the Culture Department at the Chief Minister’s residence, showcased a confluence of Garhwali, Kumaoni, and Jaunsari cultures. Governor Gurmeet Singh, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, and former Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari were also seen performing traditional dances.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended his greetings and best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of Igas festival/Budhi Diwali. He also stated that our folk culture and traditions are the hallmark of Devbhoomi. He stated that the folk culture and traditions of any state are the soul of that state, including the festival of Igas.
