In Kaladhungi, 8.2 km long canal will be covered from Panchakkki Square to Kamaluwaganja, CS gave approval

Dehradun: Chief Secretary Radha Raturi approved the proposal for construction of 8.2 km long canal covering from Panchakkki Square to Kamaluwaganja under Kaladhungi of Nainital in the meeting of Expenditure Finance Committee held in the Secretariat. Due to the increasing width of the road by covering and strengthening this canal, the population of Chauphala, Kathgharia, Kamaluwaganja, Ghuni, Bhagwanpur and Ramni will be benefited. Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has given instructions to complete this scheme in a timely manner while maintaining the quality of construction. The construction period of the scheme has been proposed to be 12 months. The cost of the scheme is Rs 1245.64 lakh. The Chief Secretary has given instructions to pay special attention to ground water recharge and plantation during the construction of the scheme.

CS Raturi said that by covering the canal and widening the road from Coltax-Panchakki to Chaufula-Kathghariya, this road will act as a 2 lane bypass. As a result, it will prove useful for the passengers coming from Nainital to Delhi/Dehradun via Bajpur/Ramnagar, Corbett National Park. This can reduce the traffic density of Haldwani city.

Secretary Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Additional Secretary Dr. Ahmed Iqbal, Vineet Kumar and officials of Public Works Department and Irrigation Department were present in the meeting.
