Innovative ‘Voter in Que’ App Launched in Faridabad to Reduce Polling Centre Waiting Time

Faridabad: In a significant move to enhance voter turnout and convenience, Faridabad tested the new ‘Voter in Que’ mobile app on Friday at three polling stations. Developed by NIC Hisar, the app aims to streamline the voting process for the Lok Sabha elections scheduled on May 25, targeting an increase from the previous 70% voter turnout to 75%.

Deputy Commissioner and Lok Sabha Election Officer Vikram Singh highlighted the app’s capacity to inform voters about real-time queue lengths at polling stations, enabling them to vote at their convenience. This initiative seeks to address the issue of potential voters turning away due to lengthy queues. Singh stated, “Voters can check the live status of queues and plan their visit to the polling centres accordingly.”

The app also offers personalized assistance, where voters can input their details and receive an OTP to connect directly with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) who will update the queue status periodically. This service aims to significantly reduce wait times and improve voter participation.

The Election Commission of India has sanctioned this pilot project as part of a broader effort to leverage technology for electoral processes. The ‘Voter in Q’ app is available for download on the Android Play Store, reflecting a proactive approach by the Haryana electoral authorities to make voting more accessible and efficient for everyone.
