IPS Gurinder Singh Dhillon, opts for voluntary retirement

Chandigarh: Gurinder Singh Dhillon is an Indian Police Service officer of 1997 batch from Punjab cadre. He was serving as the additional director general of police (law and order) in Punjab Police. Dhillon is from Mulianwal village in Gurdaspur district and is settled in Patiala at present.

He took Voluntary Retirement (VRS) from after 34 years of serving as an IPS officer. After his retirement announcement there was a speculation of him joining the politics. But according to Mr Dhillon he has not taken the decision to join politics yet.

“I have taken VRS. I am feeling uncaged. Let’s see where the wind of destiny pollinates me,” he wrote in a post on X earlier.

He started his career as the deputy superintendent of police in Jalandhar. He also served at various positions in intelligence, anti-drug special task force, bureau of investigation and other wings.
