In a recent administrative update, the deputation tenure of S Suresh (IPS: 1995: KL), currently serving as Additional Director General (ADG) in the Special Protection Group (SPG), has been extended for one year.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday, February 27, 2025, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the proposal to extend Mr. Suresh’s tenure beyond March 8, 2025. The post of Inspector General (IG) has been temporarily upgraded to ADG in the SPG to facilitate this extension, in relaxation of the IPS Tenure Policy.
In another significant move, the deputation tenure of Rajesh Kumar, Additional Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), has also been extended for one year, beyond March 18, 2025. Kumar, an IPS officer of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir cadre (now AGMUT) from the 1995 batch, will continue his service in the CRPF. This extension has also been granted in relaxation of the IPS Tenure Policy, based on the proposal from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Both extensions underscore the government’s trust in the leadership and expertise of these senior IPS officers in managing crucial security operations.
