IT dept searches residences of ex-cop Pradeep Sharma, retd IAS officer

New Delhi: THE INCOME Tax (IT) department Thursday conducted searches at the residence of former Mumbai Police officer Pradeep Sharma and a retired IAS officer Nirmal Deshmukh.

Sources in the IT department said that the searches were conducted after a tax evasion issue came up during a probe into a real estate group.

An IT official said, “While probing tax evasions of a real estate group, we found certain links to the Sharma and Deshmukh following which searches were conducted at their residence.”

Sharma was an accused in the Antilia fake terror threat case and was arrested on charges of murder-conspiracy of Mansukh Hiran.

He was released by the Supreme Court last year and has in the past contested Assembly elections on the Shiv Sena ticket from Virar.
