Kargil Vijay Diwas, Governor Gurmeet Singh paid tribute to the martyrs, honored the family members

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd), PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM paid tribute to the martyred soldiers by laying a wreath at the tribute ceremony organized by Uttarakhand Sub Area at Shaurya Sthal Cheedbagh in Dehradun. This ceremony was organized on the occasion of 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on 26 July, which is an occasion to remember the valor and historic victory of the Indian Armed Forces in the 1999 Kargil War (Operation Vijay). This day is dedicated to those brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the protection of the integrity of the nation. On this occasion, Major General MPS Gill, VSM, General Officer Commanding, Uttarakhand Sub Area, Rear Admiral Piyush Posi, Joint Chief Hydrographer, NHO Dehradun, Brigadier RS Thapa, Station Commander, Garhi Cantt Dehradun, along with ex-servicemen of the three armies, Captain Yashika Hatwal Tyagi (Retd.), Veer Naris, their families, senior officers of Navy and Air Force, JCOs and military personnel of Dehradun Station were present.

The ceremony started with a march past in which more than 120 students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Army Public School and NCC cadets participated. This participation reflected the commitment of the youth towards national service. In his address, Governor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Gurmeet Singh recalled the valor, indomitable courage and supreme sacrifice of Indian soldiers in the Kargil war and said that the nation always stands with Veer Naris, ex-servicemen and their families. He called upon the people present to take inspiration from these brave soldiers and contribute to the service of the country and protection of national pride.

This program of the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas concluded with the resolution that we all will protect the values and honor of the nation by imbibing the spirit of courage and dedication like the heroes of Kargil.

Various programs are being organized on the 26th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas across the state by Uttarakhand Sub Area and various units of the Indian Army. Whose aim is to encourage the spirit of patriotism and honor the unique sacrifice of the martyrs.

At the same time, the brave women and family members of the martyrs said on this occasion that the government and administration always honor on the spot. This also makes one feel proud. But there is also regret about some things, like the promise made regarding the land has not been fulfilled till date.
