Karnataka : Dr. Ramesh Kumar P Appointed AS Conservator Of Forest (Project Tiger)

New Delhi: Indian Forest Services officer Dr. Ramesh Kumar P has been appointed as Conservator of Forest (Project Tiger), Mysuru. Dr. Ramesh who is an IFS officer of 2008 batch and Karnataka cadre was currently serving as Field Director, Bandipur National Park. Under the new role, he will have higher responsibility to take care of all the five Tiger reserves of Karnataka .

He has been chosen for the post after consideration of his experience in Wildlife & good performance at Bandipur TR. Dr. Ramesh served in Bandipur for the last two years. During his tenure Bandipur TR didn’t report any fire for last 3 years. Bandipur also got no. 2 in India among 53 tiger reserves in the MEE exercise and with one of the highest population of Tiger, Elephant & Leopard population in the country.

In a conversation, the officer said, “I am grateful for this opportunity. Now, I can use my experience to bring all the other 4 tiger reserve equal to Bandipur level in terms of their performance.” He also took various outreach initiative in Bandipur including Yuva Mitra and Tribal development Programs like Lantana Craft for Women Tribsl Self Help Group which was appreciated by all.

  1. No fire at Bandipur TR continuously for the last 3 years (otherwise, Bandipur is infamous for forest Fire).
  2. No poaching or hunting of any schedule q animals.
  3. No 2 in India among 53 tiger reserves in the MEE exercise
  4. Top ranking in Tiger, Elephant & Leopard population.
  5. Major Outreaching Programs: Bandipur Yuva Mitra.
  6. Outstanding Tribal development Programs like Lantana Craft for Women Tribsl Self Help Group, 24×7 Emergency Ambulance, Free LPG, Bee hieve box distribution etc
  7. Now, I can use my experience to bring all the other 4 tiger reserve equal to Bandipur level in terms of their performance
