Karnataka: Rajneesh Goel, wife Shalini may become chief secretaries

BENGALURU: Additional chief secretary to government and 1989 batch senior IAS officer Shalini Rajneesh is all set to replace her husband and outgoing chief secretary Rajneesh Goel as the new CS of Karnataka.
Rajneesh Goel is scheduled to retire on July 31 and his wife will likely take charge on August 1.
Shalini Rajneesh will be the second bureaucrat in Karnataka history to take charge immediately after her husband retires as the chief secretary of the state.
The first power couple to become chief secretaries in Karnataka were B K Bhattacharya who was the CS in 2000 and his wife Teresa Bhattacharya who was the CS between January 1 2000 to March 30 2002.
Rajneesh and Shalini have had a long stint as CS with the husband superannuating after 7 months while Shalini expected to have closer to three years in service, till June 30 2007.
