Kumaon Commissioner reached the disaster affected areas, instructed to open Gaula Bridge in 20 days, also inspected the stadium

Haldwani: Kumaon Commissioner and Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Rawat on Saturday inspected the Gaula Bridge and International Stadium damaged in the recent heavy rains and the disaster that followed. During this, the Kumaon Commissioner closely observed the damage to the Gaula Bridge and the International Cricket Stadium and discussed safety measures with the officials of the National Highway Department and Irrigation Department.

Kumaon Commissioner and Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Rawat said that the Gaula Bridge is likely to be opened for light vehicles in 20 days. Regarding which he has given instructions to the NHAI officer. Apart from this, a part of the International Cricket Stadium land has fallen prey to soil erosion in the disaster. He has instructed the officials to work on how to save it by taking strong measures. He said that a meeting is also to be held at the Chief Secretary level regarding the stadium and Gaula Bridge. In which all these points will be discussed. At present, instructions have been given to start traffic for light vehicles on the Gaula bridge within 20 days. During this, the Kumaon Commissioner said that there is still a possibility of rain. Due to which the Gaula river can overflow again. In view of which, the river will be properly channelized. So that the flow of the river can be stopped. He instructed the officials of the mining department to carry out the mining extraction work under the project and rules during the mineral extraction in the coming time. So that the river does not suffer any kind of damage in the future. He said that due to the heavy rains and disaster in the recent past, government property has suffered the most damage.
