2001 batch senior IAS officer Shrikar Pardeshi has been appointed as the new secretary to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The appointment comes just two days after Fadnavis took charge as the state’s chief minister.
Pardeshi, who has previously worked with Fadnavis during his tenure as Deputy Chief Minister in the Mahayuti government, is well-known for his administrative skills and strong leadership. As the secretary to Fadnavis during the latter’s previous stint, Pardeshi played a key role in several important decisions and initiatives.
One of Pardeshi’s most notable achievements was his handling of illegal constructions in Pimpri-Chinchwad. During his tenure as the Municipal Commissioner of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) around 10 years ago, Pardeshi led a strong crackdown on illegal buildings, demolishing nearly 500 constructions, including those belonging to influential politicians from various parties. This earned him the moniker “Demolition Man”, as he took a tough stance against illegal activities that had long plagued the city.
While Pardeshi’s actions helped restore order and push for development, they were not without controversy. His strong measures led to threats to his life, yet he remained resolute in his mission. His fearlessness and unwavering commitment to law and order have earned him widespread admiration in the administrative circles.
Pardeshi’s new appointment as secretary to CM Fadnavis signals his continued prominence in Maharashtra’s administrative framework, as he brings his experience and no-nonsense approach to the state’s governance.
