Maharashtra: IPS Sandeep Singh Gill Appointed SP, Pune Rural Police

Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Sandeep Sigh Gill, who was last posted as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) in Pune City, was transferred as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Pune Rural Police. Officer Gill replaces Mr. Pankaj Deshmukh (2011 batch IPS officer), who was transferred as DCP to Mumbai Police. Officer Tejaswi Satpute (2012 batch IPS officer), who till now had been DCP in Mumbai, was transferred as DCP to Pune City.

This development comes amidst a circular issued by Maharashtra’s Home Department mandating the transfer of 17 IPS and Maharashtra State Police service officers. Officer Gill had been posted as DCP of Zone 1 of Pune City police, which has the majority of the central areas of Pune City under its jurisdiction, which are sensitive from a policing point of view. During his tenure, Gill led the unit during several sensitive law and order situations as well as high profile cases.

Mr. Rohidas Pawar, who was earlier posted as DCP with Pune City Police and was later transferred as DCP to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, has now been appointed as Additional Superintendent of Police for Railway Police, Pune.
