Medical Education Department Receives 142 Assistant Professors, CM Hands Over Appointment Letters

Dehradun: 142 Assistant Professors have been selected through the Medical Services Selection Board and have been posted to government medical colleges across the state. A program was organized at the Main Service House on Tuesday to celebrate the appointment of the 142 selected Assistant Professors.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami congratulated the newly appointed Assistant Professors, saying that this opportunity will prove to be an important step towards strengthening the medical field.

CM Urges Assistant Professors to Develop a Spirit of Service in Students: The CM urged all Assistant Professors to provide quality education and training to their students and also to cultivate sensitivity, empathy, and a spirit of service within them, so that they become skilled and competent physicians and fulfill their duties to society and humanity with utmost sincerity. The state government is continuously working towards expanding and improving healthcare services in the state. Better and affordable medical facilities are being provided to every citizen of the state.

More than 1.7 million patients have benefited from the Ayushman Card: The CM stated that approximately 6.1 million Ayushman Cards have been distributed so far under the Ayushman Scheme, benefiting over 1.7 million patients in the state. Consequently, these patients have received cashless treatment worth over ₹3,300 crore. The CM also stated that the state government is building a medical college in every district, providing modern healthcare facilities to people in remote areas within their own districts. Five of these medical colleges are already operational, while construction work on two more is underway. Super-specialty departments have also been established in Dehradun, Haldwani, and Srinagar Medical Colleges.

The recruitment process for 356 assistant professors is underway: The CM stated that the state’s first modern cancer institute is being constructed in Haldwani. Additionally, heli-ambulances are proving to be life-saving for people in remote areas during emergencies. Pathological tests are also being provided free of charge to patients in the state. Telemedicine services provide consultations with specialist doctors in remote villages. Staff shortages are also being addressed in all government hospitals and medical colleges. Appointment letters were issued today to 142 assistant professors, and the process for the appointment of 356 assistant professors is underway.

The selection process for 600 nursing officers is underway: In addition, appointment letters have been issued to 1,248 nursing officers and 170 technicians, while the selection process for 600 nursing officers is ongoing. The Chief Minister noted that previously, recruitment in the state was rife with favoritism, rigging, and corruption. He implemented the country’s strictest anti-cheating law. Today, all selection processes are based on merit, ensuring qualified candidates reap the full benefits of their skills and hard work. So far, approximately 27,000 youth from the state have succeeded in obtaining government jobs. The Chief Minister stated that wherever vacancies exist, they will be filled through the Commission as soon as possible.

Uttarakhand Medical Colleges Have 62% Permanent Faculty: During the program, Cabinet Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat stated that medical colleges currently have 62% permanent faculty. This number is expected to increase in the future. He stated that 70% of the work at Pithoragarh and Rudrapur Medical Colleges is complete. Both medical colleges will begin operations next semester. 625 students are pursuing MBBS and 256 PG degrees in the state’s government medical colleges. There are approximately 100 colleges in the state, with 14,000 students pursuing nursing each year. He stated that 100% of the recently appointed 3,000 nursing staff are from Uttarakhand. He added that 3.2 million people in the state have received free medical checkups, and 350 have been referred to higher centers by air ambulance.
