MLAs in Uttarakhand will get increased salary-allowance and cashless treatment, Raj Bhavan approved the Assembly Amendment Bill

Dehradun: The way has been cleared for increase in salary-allowances and pension of members and former members of Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly. Now they will get about four lakh rupees per month as salary-allowance. Along with this, MLAs and their dependents will also get the facility of cashless treatment. The Raj Bhavan has approved the Assembly Miscellaneous Amendment Bill for this. It will soon take the form of an Act.

The government had passed the Assembly Miscellaneous Bill in the monsoon session held in the summer capital Gairsain to increase the salary and allowances of the MLAs and provide them the facility of cashless treatment. Earlier, the salary of MLAs and pension of former MLAs was increased in the year 2018.

At present, MLAs get about three lakh rupees as salary and allowances. The MLAs had proposed an increase in salary and allowances before the government. In this sequence, the Assembly constituted an ad hoc committee under the chairmanship of MLA Pritam Singh to consider the House and constituency, service conditions of the MLAs. This committee submitted its report to the Assembly after studying the system of different states. This report was presented in the House as the Assembly Miscellaneous Bill.

In the bill passed in the Assembly, consent was given to increase the amount of salary and allowances to about four lakh rupees. Along with this, the facility of cashless treatment was also allowed to the MLAs and their dependents. Apart from this, treatment of MLAs abroad has also been allowed on the recommendation of AIIMS. The pension of former MLAs has also been increased.
