Mobile phones banned during VVIP duty and drones… Tight security for President and PM’s visit

Dehradun: The police and administration have completed preparations for the arrival of President Draupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Dehradun on the occasion of Uttarakhand’s silver jubilee celebrations. District Magistrate Savin Bansal held a meeting with the administration’s core team at the Collectorate and instructed them to ensure all arrangements are in place, while SSP Ajay Singh directed that police personnel will not be allowed to use their mobile phones during VVIP duty. All police officers and employees on duty were instructed to carry their identity cards and duty cards.

President Draupadi Murmu will arrive in Dehradun on Sunday evening, November 2, to celebrate the silver jubilee of the state’s founding and will stay overnight at Rashtrapati Niketan on Rajpur Road. The President will address a special session of the Legislative Assembly on Monday. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Dehradun on November 9 and attend the state government’s main event at the FRI.

SSP issues orders: Police personnel will not use mobile phones during VVIP duty.

On Friday, District Magistrate Savin Bansal held a meeting with the core team at the Rishiparna Auditorium in the Collectorate to review security arrangements, traffic control, parking, VIP movement, electricity, drinking water, sanitation, medical and emergency services, and instructed officials to ensure all arrangements are completed within the stipulated timeframe. They were also asked to conduct regular on-site inspections of the preparations. Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, Sub-District Magistrate Sadar Har Giri, and Kumkum Joshi were present at the meeting.

Drone operation will be prohibited.

SSP Ajay Singh stated that strict action will be taken against any police officer found negligent while on duty. He directed all in-charge police officers to identify all police officers deployed in plain clothes and uniform and to thoroughly brief them on their duties.

The VVIP route in-charge was instructed to inspect the entire cut-off arrangement before the event and ensure that no construction material is lying on the VVIP route.

The SSP stated that all officers in charge will be instructed to strictly prohibit the use of drones in and around the venue during the VVIP visit. No one will be permitted to fly drones in the area during this period. They have been instructed to conduct checks in the areas to look for suspicious individuals.
