More than 17 Nepali workers missing in Uttarkashi Dharali disaster, Nepal PM Oli gave information, sought help from the Indian government

Kathmandu / Dehradun: 17 people of Nepal origin are also missing in the disaster in Dharali in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. This information was given by Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli himself on Friday. He has started diplomatic efforts by requesting India to search for 17 Nepali workers.

Actually, Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was returning from Turkmenistan on Friday itself. After this, he expressed condolences on the disaster that occurred in Dharali, Uttarakhand on Tuesday, August 5, on his Facebook account. He also requested the Indian government to search for the Nepali workers missing in this disaster.

I pay my tributes to all those who lost their lives in the floods and landslides and wish the bereaved families the strength to bear this grief.

Local authorities in Nepal have confirmed that 17 of the missing people are from Jajarkot district and four others are from Bardiya district. According to Nepal officials, they have been missing since Tuesday afternoon after the devastating floods in Dharali area of ​​Uttrakhand district of India.

Hari Chandra Basnet, Chairman of Kushe Rural Municipality of Jajarkot district, told ANI over the phone, “The missing local people have not been contacted since the floods and their families are extremely worried. We have also requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for assistance in search and rescue operations.

Apart from this, the Bardiya District Administration Office has confirmed that four people from Bardiya are also missing due to the same floods. Reports indicate that dozens of Nepalese have been injured in this disaster. Meanwhile, Chief District Officer of Jajarkot Megh Bahadur Mangarti said that the local government is coordinating efforts to identify and locate the missing people.

Mangarti said that we have instructed all the local bodies and police posts of the district to compile and report the names of the residents working in Dharali. The Home Ministry has been informed in this regard. Rescue and relief operations are underway, but the condition of the missing Nepalese is still not clear.

Let us tell you that on August 5, at around 1.30 pm, a flood of water and debris came from the hill in Kheerganga in Dharali Bazaar of Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand, in which the entire Dharali market was buried. Dharali market is buried under about 50 feet of debris. Rescue operations have been going on in the area for the last four days. According to the information received from Uttarkashi Police so far, a total of 18 people are missing in this disaster, out of which 9 are Indian Army personnel and seven are locals. At the same time, two are said to be Nepali laborers. Apart from this, five Nepali labourers went missing in the disaster that struck Pauri Garhwal on Wednesday, who have not been found yet. On one hand, while the rescue team is trying to find life in the debris, on the other hand, it is engaged in rescuing the people trapped around Gangotri and Dharali and shifting them to safer places. According to the information of the state government, till the afternoon of August 8, 566 passengers have been evacuated from the disaster affected areas in Dharali and Harshil of Uttarkashi. According to the state government, the work of evacuating the remaining 300 people is still going on.
