New Delhi: The Central Government has empanelled Tarun Kumar Pithode, a 2009-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, for holding the post of Joint Secretary or equivalent at the Centre.

Currently on Central deputation, Pithode has been serving as Director in the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) since September 2024. His empanelment marks a significant milestone in a distinguished career dedicated to public service and innovation in administration.

ACC Clears Names from 2009 Batch

This empanelment follows earlier decisions by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), which had cleared the names of 16 IAS officers from the 2009 batch for Joint Secretary-level posts on February 10, 2025. An additional four officers were empanelled on March 24, 2025, with Pithode’s inclusion bringing further recognition to the batch’s service record.

Born on August 28, 1979, Pithode holds Bachelor of Engineering degrees in Communication Engineering and Electronics & Communication from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV), Bhopal. Fluent in both English and Hindi, he is known for his sharp administrative acumen and people-first governance approach.
