Nagaland : IPS (retd) John Longkumer sworn in as state election commissioner

Kohima: T John Longkumer officially took charge as the State Election Commissioner (SEC) of Nagaland on Thursday (March 07).
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the conference hall of the Nagaland Civil Secretariat in Kohima.
The proceedings were presided over by Kenilo Apon, Commissioner and Secretary Urban and Municipal Affairs, Nagaland Chief Secretary Jay Alam administered the oath of office.
The announcement was made through a release by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) of Nagaland.
John Longkumer was appointed to the prestigious post on January 30, with his extensive experience and distinguished career underpinning his selection.
A seasoned professional, Longkumar brings with him a wealth of expertise, having served as a retired IPS officer of 1991 batch from the Chhattisgarh cadre.
Prior to his appointment as State Election Commissioner of Nagaland, Longkumer held the post of Director General of Nagaland Police, where he served till his retirement in January 2023.
Longkumer’s tenure as the state’s election commissioner is expected to usher in new strategies and initiatives aimed at ensuring the integrity and transparency of the electoral process in Nagaland, and further strengthening the state’s democratic infrastructure.
