Nainital and Mussoorie give a grand welcome to the New Year, people immersed in celebrations

Mussoorie/Nainital: The ‘Queen of the Hills’, Mussoorie, was completely drenched in the colors of celebration to welcome the New Year 2025. From the night of December 31st to the first day of the new year, thousands of tourists from India and abroad celebrated the New Year with enthusiasm and joy amidst the cold weather in Mussoorie. Mall Road, Kempty Falls, Gun Hill, and the Library area remained bustling with activity until late at night. People wished for the peace and prosperity of the state and the country on the New Year and exchanged greetings with each other. A similar scene was witnessed in Nainital, where tourists celebrated the New Year.

In Mussoorie, hotels, guesthouses, and homestays were almost fully booked on the occasion of the New Year. Although some tourists canceled their bookings after pictures of traffic jams and crowds in the hills surfaced on social media, the overall tourism business remained satisfactory. Hotel and restaurant owners had arranged special packages, live music, DJ nights, and traditional Pahari cuisine for the tourists, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Mussoorie police remained fully vigilant to ensure a peaceful and safe New Year celebration.

Under the leadership of Police Circle Officer Manoj Aswal, a march past was conducted in major areas including Mall Road. He informed that 3 inspectors, 26 sub-inspectors, and 60 constables were deployed in Mussoorie in view of the New Year. In addition, two battalions of PAC were also deployed for security arrangements. The police kept a close watch on troublemakers and those drinking alcohol in public places. Challans and action were taken against several people found drinking alcohol in the open.

SDM Mussoorie Rahul Anand and Municipal Chairperson Meera Saklani said that the administration’s priority was to provide tourists with a safe, convenient, and memorable experience. Strict security, beautiful decorations, the aroma of Pahari cuisine amidst the cold winds, and colorful markets made Mussoorie special for the New Year. A special message from Nainital: The New Year celebrations in the world-famous Jim Corbett National Park and the lake city of Nainital were marked with great enthusiasm and excitement this year. A large influx of tourists was witnessed from Nainital to Corbett Park. Tourists from India and abroad welcomed the New Year 2026 amidst the pure and tranquil environment, in the lap of nature. On the occasion of the New Year, Corbett Park and the surrounding government and private resorts were completely bustling with activity. Tourists celebrated the New Year with jungle safaris, enjoying the natural beauty and wildlife. Importantly, special attention was paid to environmental protection during this time, and a message of a plastic-free New Year was conveyed.
