Dehradun: The Dhami government has changed the old names in many districts of the state and announced new names. After which the Congress is continuously targeting the BJP. At the same time, senior Congress leader and former CM Harish Rawat has surrounded the Dhami government for changing the name of Salempur. The Dhami government has renamed Salempur Rajputana of Roorkee as Shursen Nagar.
Harish Rawat wrote on his social media handle that the Dhami government of Uttarakhand was in such a hurry to change the name that only the government knows the reason. He further wrote that now it is Salempur Rajputana, this village. Salem Singh was a respected person of this village near Roorkee in Haridwar district and later he also converted to religion. Being the elder of his family, both the Muslim people and the Hindus contributed equally towards Salem Singh. That is why the village is named after him and because he is a Muslim.
He added Rao to his name, so he named the village Salempur Rajputana. I don’t know what animosity the government had with Salem Singh? Now the name has been changed. There are other villages like this, Chandpur and other villages also have their own history. If the name of every village and the word in front of the name of the village gives the impression that it is a popular word of Muslims, then change that name, then brother, there are 25 crore Muslims in the country, what all will you change where? Think about what will be its effect on them? What mentality will this create in the society, the government is not ready to think about it.
It is worth noting that the names of about 17 places located in Haridwar, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar and Dehradun districts were changed. Due to which politics is intensifying in the state. After the decision of Chief Minister Dhami to change the name, a new debate has started in the politics of the state.
