NHLML will construct Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib ropeways, MoU signed with state government

Dehradun: Ropeways will be constructed in Uttarakhand through National Highway Logistics Management Limited (NHLML), an undertaking of the Ministry of Road Transport. An MoU was signed between the Uttarakhand government and NHLML at the Secretariat on Tuesday to form a Special Purpose Vehicle (SVP) for ropeway construction. In the presence of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, an MoU was signed for the development of ropeways in Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib under the Parvatmala project.

Under this MoU between the Uttarakhand government and NHLML, NHLML will have 51 per cent equity participation and the state government will have 49 per cent. Under the revenue sharing, 90 per cent of the funds will be spent in the field of tourism, transport and mobility in the state of Uttarakhand.

At the same time, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that this agreement will help in giving a new identity to the religious and cultural heritage of the state on the global stage. It will also pave the way for new possibilities in the field of tourism, employment, environmental protection and infrastructure.

The CM said that under the Parvatmala project, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the construction of 12.9 km long ropeway projects between Sonprayag to Kedarnath at a cost of about Rs 4,100 crore and 12.4 km long ropeway projects between Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib at a cost of more than Rs 2,700 crore. These projects will prove to be a better step in expanding ropeway connectivity in the state. It will also play an important role in strengthening the economy of the state.

CM Dhami said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, rail, road and ropeway connectivity is expanding rapidly in the state. Work is being done to strengthen connectivity through various projects related to road connectivity in Chardham Allweather Road, Delhi-Dehradun Elevated Road, Sitarganj to Tanakpur Motorway, Paonta Sahib Dehradun, Banbasa to Kanchanpur, Bhaniyawala to Rishikesh, Kathgodam to Lalkuan, Haldwani Bypass and border areas. Work is also being done rapidly on the expansion of rail connectivity.

At the same time, Union Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta said that this is an important day in view of the development of ropeways in the state. He said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, development work is going on rapidly in every field in the state. After the construction of these ropeways, devotees will have great ease in visiting Kedarnath and Hemkund Sahib.
