NHPC Signs an MoU With Norwegian Company Ocean Sun To Explore Opportunities In India’s Solar Sector

New Delhi: Amidst a recent development, the Maharatna PSU NHPC entered into an MoU with a Norwegian company that builds technology for the floating solar industry company — Ocean Sun to bolster the GoI’s effort towards sustainable development and renewable energy capacity.

The agreement was signed by Mr. VR Shrivastava, NHPC’s Executive Director (REGH), and Mr. Kristian Torvold, CEO of Ocean Sun, in the presence of Ms. May-Elin Stener (Norway’s ambassador to India), Mr. Raj Kumar Chaudhary (NHPC Director Technical), Dr. Acquino Vimal (India’s Ambassador to Norway) at the Embassy of Norway, New Delhi.

As per the MoU, the parties shall collaborate to explore key areas of cooperation for the demonstration of Ocean Sun’s floating solar energy technology based on PV panels, mounted on a hydro-elastic membrane at relevant sites as may be identified by NHPC.

NHPC boasts of being the largest organisation for Hydropower development in India and is also engaged in the development of various renewable energy projects like solar, wind, green hydrogen, etc.
