Nitish Kumar becomes Bihar Chief Minister for the 10th time, sworn in by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan

Patna: Nitish Kumar, the longest-serving Chief Minister of Bihar and the National President of the Janata Dal (United), was sworn in as the Chief Minister of the state for the 10th time on Thursday. Governor Arif Mohammad Khan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Nitish Kumar in a grand ceremony held at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. 74-year-old Nitish Kumar first became Chief Minister in 2000, although his government lasted only eight days. He subsequently served as Chief Minister continuously from 2005 to 2014. Following his party’s poor performance in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Nitish resigned but returned to power a few months later. Nitish last took the oath of office as Chief Minister in January 2024, when he and his party returned to the NDA.

Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha become Deputy Chief Ministers

It is worth noting that BJP leaders Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha were sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers on this occasion. Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha also held the positions of Deputy Chief Ministers in the previous government. Lakhendra Kumar Roshan, Shreyasi Singh, Dr. Pramod Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Sanjay Kumar Singh, and Deepak Prakash, along with Lesy Singh, Nitin Navin, Madan Sahni, Ram Kripal Yadav, Santosh Kumar Suman, Sunil Kumar, Mohammad Jama Khan, Sanjay Singh Tiger, Arun Shankar Prasad, Surendra Mehta, Narayan Prasad, and Rama Nishad, were also sworn in as ministers. Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Shravan Kumar, Mangal Pandey, Dr. Dilip Jaiswal, and Ashok Chaudhary are also included in the list of ministers.

Many prominent leaders were present at the swearing-in ceremony.

On Nitish Kumar becoming Chief Minister for the 10th time, his son Nishant Kumar said, “I congratulate my father on being sworn in as Chief Minister for the 10th time. The public has given us more than we expected. I thank and congratulate the public.” Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President J.P. Nadda and several other senior NDA leaders were present. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Uttarakhand’s Pushkar Singh Dhami, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Andhra Pradesh’s Chandrababu Naidu, Rajasthan’s Bhajanlal Sharma, and Maharashtra’s Devendra Fadnavis were also present at the swearing-in ceremony.
