Dehradun: Chairing a review meeting regarding the Chardham Yatra arrangements at the secretariat, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Friday received feedback from the District Magistrates and later visited the Yamunotri region to take stock of the travel arrangements.
After meeting people, Dhami said that given the large number of pilgrims, it has been decided not to allow travel without registration.
With nearly twice the number of pilgrims embarking on the Char Dham yatra since it commenced on May 10, the state government has reported the death of 11 pilgrims in the first five days.
The government is always ready to welcome all the devotees, said Dhami, adding that considering the dignity and geographical peculiarities of the Dhams, it has become necessary to regularise the yatra.
The CM also conducted an aerial inspection of Kharsali and Janki Chatti areas including Yamunotri Dham.
During the review meeting, Dhami instructed the secretaries of all departments related to the Chardham Yatra to continuously monitor all arrangements on the Chardham Yatra routes.
He also said that basic facilities like drinking water, electricity, toilets, food, milk for children and other necessary amenities should be made available as part of the arrangement for devotees.
