Dehradun: Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan chaired a review of the progress of departments in implementing the Special Assistance Scheme to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) and reforms at the Secretariat on Wednesday. The Chief Secretary stated that any reforms that are feasible for departments to implement within the stipulated timeframe must be implemented within the stipulated timeframe. Department heads who fail to do so will face adverse entries.
The Chief Secretary urged relevant departments to continuously communicate with their ministries and strive to take full advantage of the grants and financial assistance received from the Government of India. He urged relevant departments to work in close collaboration with Finance and Planning to maximize the benefits of the Special Assistance Scheme.
The Chief Secretary directed the Transport Department to expedite the implementation of reforms related to scrapping 15-year-old vehicles and electronic enforcement for road safety. He directed the Revenue Department to implement land reform reforms in a timely manner. He said that the state share which was to be released to the departments should be released in the next 2 days.
The Chief Secretary said that all the concerned departments should continuously review it at their level and prepare as many projects as possible to take maximum benefit of the special assistance scheme received from the Government of India. On this occasion, Principal Secretary R.K. Sudhanshu, R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Special Chief Secretary Amit Sinha, Secretary Deepak Kumar, Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey and Dr. V. Shanmugam along with other senior officers and departmental officers were present.
