Dehradun: On January 26, the 77th Republic Day, a program was organized at the Parade Ground in the capital city of Dehradun. At this program, at 10:30 AM, Governor Lieutenant General (Retired) Gurmeet Singh hoisted the flag and took the salute of the parade. Following this, a parade of tableaux prepared by various departments was held. These tableaux were prepared by different departments showcasing information related to their respective departments. The tableau prepared by the Information Department was displayed on the theme of ‘Silver Jubilee and Winter Religious Pilgrimage and Tourism’.
After the cultural program concluded, several police officers, including the DGP, were honored. The CRPF platoon received first place, the ITBP platoon second, and the Dogra Regiment platoon third place in the military contingent awards. In the tableau competition, the Information and Public Relations Department received first place, the Sanskrit Education Department second place, and the School Education Department third place. The program concluded after the award distribution. This is the third consecutive time that the Information and Public Relations Department’s tableau has received first place.
On the occasion of Republic Day 2026, the Governor honored four officers of the Secretariat and six police personnel with the Governor’s Excellence Service Medal. Dr. Neeraj Singhal, Assistant Election Officer Mastu Das, Divisional Officer Alok Kumar Singh, and Review Officer Rakesh Singh Aswal from the Secretariat were among those honored. The Governor honored these police officers:
• Yashpal Singh, Inspector, Civil Police STF, Dehradun.
• Narottam Bisht, Sub-Inspector, Civil Police STF, Dehradun.
• Devendra Kumar, Constable 21, Civil Police STF, Dehradun.
• Bhupendra Singh Martolia, Head Constable, STF, Kumaon.
• Sunil Kumar, Additional Sub-Inspector, Armed Police, Pauri Garhwal.
• Sunil Rawat, Head Constable 114, Civil Police, Dehradun.
Information Department’s tableau wins first prize
This year, the tableau prepared by the Information and Public Relations Department on the occasion of January 26th was based on the theme of the silver jubilee celebrations marking 25 years of the state’s formation. It also showcased the state’s economic growth rate. The major pillars of the state’s economy – Yoga, Ayurveda, and Tourism – were also incorporated into the tableau. This is the third consecutive time that the Information Department’s tableau has won first prize.
