On the 31st anniversary of the Mussoorie firing, CM Dhami reached Mussoorie and paid tribute to the martyrs, said the state can never forget the sacrifice of the state agitators

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute to the martyred state agitators and honored their families in a program organized on the 31st anniversary of the Mussoorie firing. The Chief Minister has said that the state government is working with determination to create the Uttarakhand of the dreams of the state agitators.

In a program organized at the Shaheed Smarak in Mussoorie on Tuesday, the Chief Minister paid tribute to the agitators Balbir Singh Negi, Belmati Chauhan, Hansa Dhanai, Dhanpat Singh, Rai Singh Bangari and Madan Mohan Mamgai who were martyred in Mussoorie during the Uttarakhand state movement and said that the state agitators made their unique contribution in the creation of Uttarakhand by putting their present at stake for our better future. He said that the day of 2 September 1994 will be marked as a black chapter in the history of the state. On this day, the agitators who were peacefully demonstrating at Veerbhoomi in Mussoorie had to face police bullets. This incident was a symbol of the repressive attitude of the ruling parties of the time, who tried to crush a peaceful movement mercilessly.

The Chief Minister said that the government has implemented 10 percent horizontal reservation in government jobs for them and their dependents, expressing its gratitude to the state agitators. Along with this, a monthly pension facility of Rs 3000 has also been started for the families of martyred agitators. Injured and jailed agitators are being given a pension of Rs 6000 and active agitators Rs 4500 per month.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that during the time of previous governments, there was a provision of horizontal reservation for only one dependent of the state agitators, but now under the new law, the abandoned, widowed and divorced daughters of the identified agitators will also be able to get the benefit of this reservation. Not only this, the state government has issued identity cards to the identified state agitators and has also employed 93 agitators in government service. Along with this, the children of state agitators are being provided free education in schools and colleges and the agitators are also being provided free travel facility in government buses. The Chief Minister said that the state government has also implemented 30 percent horizontal reservation for women in government jobs.

The Chief Minister said that the dream of the state agitators was to create such a Uttarakhand where our culture, language and traditions are preserved. With this objective, the state government has implemented the “Uniform Civil Code” and ensured equal rights and duties for all citizens in the state. At the same time, the country’s most effective anti-copying law was implemented to provide equal employment opportunities with transparency to the youth of the state and more than 100 copying mafias were sent to jail. After this, more than 25 thousand youths in Uttarakhand have succeeded in getting government jobs.

The Chief Minister said that the state government is working with full commitment to protect the demography of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand. For this, while on one hand a strict anti-conversion law was implemented in the state, more than 9 thousand acres of government land has been freed from encroachment. Along with this, the state government has also made a strict anti-riot law to teach a lesson to the rioters and has also made them compensate for the loss caused in the riots. Recently, the government has decided to abolish the Madrasa Board in the state by implementing a new law. After the implementation of this law, after July 1, 2026, only those madrasas will be able to operate in Uttarakhand, in which the curriculum prescribed by the government board will be taught. More than two hundred and fifty madrasas operating illegally in the state have also been closed. The state government is also taking strict action through ‘Operation Kalanemi’ against the hypocrites defaming the Sanatan culture in the state. On this occasion, the Chief Minister talked about building the Garhwal Sabha Bhawan soon and resolving the matter of Siphon Court soon and also assured quick action on other demands including the announcement of a vendor zone in Mussoorie. The CM said that the state government will also celebrate the birth centenary of late Indramani Badoni, the prominent face of the Uttarakhand movement, in a grand manner.

In the program, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi expressed his gratitude to the CM for creating Mussoorie tehsil and also presented various demands of Mussoorie to the Chief Minister. Municipal Chairman Meera Saklani, rank holder Subhash Badthwal, former MLA Jot Singh Gunsola, former Municipal Chairman Manmohan Mall, state agitators and a large number of local residents participated in the program.
