Dehradun: The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand is a disaster-sensitive state. This amount approved by the Central Government will be of great help in reducing the impact of disaster along with disaster relief and rescue operations during the disaster in the state.
With the aim of strengthening disaster management in Uttarakhand and reducing the response time, the World Bank assisted project “Uttarakhand Disaster Preparedness and Resilient Project (U-Prepare)” worth ₹ 1480 crores has been approved by the Central Government. Under this project, construction of 45 bridges, 8 road safety measures, 10 disaster shelters, construction/strengthening of 19 fire stations, construction of training centers for the State Disaster Response Force as well as forest fire control related works will be done under the Forest Department.
It is known that with the objective of strengthening Uttarakhand Disaster Management and reducing the response time during disaster, the Central Government has approved a World Bank assisted 05-year project “Uttarakhand Disaster Preparedness and Resilient (U-Prepare)” worth Rs. 1480 crore, whose loan was signed on 16 December 2024 between the Central Government, Uttarakhand Government and the World Bank. Under this project, construction of 45 bridges, 08 road safety measures, 10 disaster shelters, construction/improvement of 19 fire stations, construction of training centers for State Disaster Response Force along with works related to forest fire control under the Forest Department are to be done.
