Dehradun: On the occasion of Guru Purnima, on Sunday, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami planted a tree with his mother under the ‘One tree in the name of mother’ campaign. The Chief Minister said that the first guru of a person in life is his mother. In such a situation, it is no less than a good fortune to be a part of the plantation campaign in the name of mother.
A tree plantation program was organized on vacant land on the banks of Rispana river at Gangotri Vihar on Canal Road under the aegis of Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority. On this occasion, the CM said that on the occasion of World Environment Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had appealed to the countrymen to plant ‘one tree in the name of mother’. It has been taken as a campaign in the state. The Chief Minister appealed to all the people of the state to plant a tree in the name of mother this monsoon season. He said that mother is the first guru in everyone’s life. He also wished the people of the state on Guru Purnima.
The Chief Minister said that a tree plantation campaign is being run in the state from Harela festival to 15 August. Social organizations, people working in the field of environment, self-help groups have also been associated with this campaign. Tree plantation campaign is being run at the gram panchayat level in the state.
