One Year of UCC Implementation in Uttarakhand Complete, CM Dhami Delivers Address, Know the Key Points

Haldwani/Dehradun: Today marks one year since the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand. Special programs are being organized across the state to commemorate this occasion. The first Devbhoomi Uniform Civil Code Day ceremony was also held in the capital, Dehradun, where CM Dhami participated.

CM Dhami said that today will always be etched as a golden chapter in the history of Uttarakhand. On this very day, a year ago, the UCC was dedicated to the people of Devbhoomi. CM Dhami said that today will always be remembered as a momentous occasion in the constitutional, social, and political history of Uttarakhand and the entire India.

CM Dhami said that all the framers of the Constitution, including Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, had mentioned a uniform law in the Constitution. CM Dhami said that under the leadership and guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we had pledged to implement this law in our 2022 manifesto, which we have now implemented.

CM Dhami said that the people of Uttarakhand gave us their support and blessings for this work. Extensive discussions were also held with the people before implementing this bill. He said that we have to give a secure Uttarakhand to the future generation. UCC is an attempt to establish harmony through equality. It has only removed malpractices.

CM Dhami said that this law also makes registration mandatory for live-in relationships, in which all information is being kept confidential. He said that our government will not tolerate the exploitation of women on the basis of religion under any circumstances. After this, CM Dhami inspected the photo gallery organized by the Information and Public Relations Department on the first anniversary of the UCC (Uniform Civil Code) in 2026.

Special program organized in Haldwani: To mark one year of the Uniform Civil Code, a program was organized by the district administration at MBPG College in Haldwani. Stalls were set up by self-help groups during this event. The program was attended by the city’s mayor, along with prominent citizens and people from various sections of society. During the event, the municipal corporation also set up a special camp for UCC certificate registration, where a large number of citizens registered. The administration provided the public with detailed information about the procedures, rights, and responsibilities related to the UCC.
