Dehradun: Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Uttarakhand today. During this, PM Modi held a review meeting on the damage caused by the disaster in Uttarakhand at Jolly Grant Airport. After the review, PM Modi announced financial assistance of Rs 1200 crore for the flood and rain-affected areas of Uttarakhand.
Along with this, the Prime Minister has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. The Prime Minister announced comprehensive assistance under the PM Cares for Children scheme for the children orphaned due to the recent floods and landslides. The Prime Minister met the affected families and expressed condolences. PM Modi spoke of full cooperation for the reconstruction of roads, schools and infrastructure. PM Modi assured the state government that the whole country stands with the state in this hour of disaster. Along with this, Prime Minister Modi also met NDRF, SDRF and Disaster Mitra volunteers and appreciated their efforts. The central government assured full support for the restoration and reconstruction of infrastructure in the affected areas. The state has suffered huge economic losses due to rain and disaster in Uttarakhand. In view of which the Uttarakhand government had sought an economic package of ₹5702 crore from the Center.
1. The Prime Minister emphasized the need to adopt a multi-pronged approach to help the entire region and its people. This will include measures such as reconstruction of houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, renovation of national highways, reconstruction of schools, providing relief through the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund and distributing mini kits for animals.
2. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin, financial assistance will be provided to those eligible families under the “Special Project” presented by the Uttarakhand government for the reconstruction of houses in rural areas. Whose houses have been damaged due to floods.
3. The central government has already sent inter-ministerial central teams to Uttarakhand, which will visit the state to assess the damage and further assistance will be considered based on their detailed report.
4. The Prime Minister expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the natural disaster and said that the Central Government will work closely with the state governments in this difficult time. Will provide all possible assistance.
5. The Prime Minister met the families of Uttarakhand who have been affected by the recent natural disasters including landslides and floods. He expressed his solidarity with all the affected people and expressed heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones.
6. The Prime Minister announced that the children orphaned by the recent floods and landslides will get assistance through the PM Cares for Children scheme. Which will ensure their long-term care and welfare.
7. The Prime Minister said that at present the assistance announced under the Disaster Management Act and Rules, including advance payments to the states, is for the interim period. The Central Government will further review the assessment based on the memorandum of the state and the report of the central teams. He praised the personnel of NDRF, SDRF, Army, State Administration and other service-oriented organizations for contributing to immediate relief and rescue work.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave information about the damage caused by the disaster in the state and the relief and rescue operations conducted in the affected areas. The Chief Minister said that there has been full cooperation from the organizations of the Central Government in conducting relief and rescue operations in the affected areas with full readiness and capability. Due to which proper relief has been possible to the affected at a quick pace. The Chief Minister said that roads and public assets have suffered a lot of damage in the disaster affected areas. Work is being done on a war footing to restore basic facilities in the affected areas.
I thank Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for announcing a relief package to compensate for the losses caused by the Uttarakhand disaster. The state government is trying with full capacity to deal with the natural disaster in Uttarakhand, the support of the central government is being received in this work from the very first day.
