Police woke up after 36 deaths in Almora accident, campaign will be run across the state against overloaded vehicles, DGP gave instructions to police officers in the meeting

Dehradun: Uttarakhand Police has woken up after the death of 36 people in the Almora bus accident. That is why now a campaign will be run against overloaded vehicles across the state. Not only this, in case of overloading, now a case will be registered against not only the driver but also the vehicle owner and conductor. DGP Abhinav Kumar has also issued instructions regarding this.

In fact, on Tuesday, November 5, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of DGP Abhinav Kumar regarding crime control and law and order along with traffic management. All the officers of the region, district in-charges, Superintendent of Police, STF and Railways joined the meeting through video conferencing.

During the meeting, from November 10, a campaign will be run in all the districts against overloaded and illegal vehicles as well as against drunk drivers. Also, in case of road accidents caused due to overloading, a case should be registered against the vehicle owner, driver and conductor as per the guidelines in the SOP. It should be noted that overloading is being said to be the major reason for the Almora bus accident. Because there were 63 people in a 42 seater bus.

During the meeting, instructions were given to all the district in-charges regarding crime control and law and order that registration of crimes should be done compulsorily and crime reduction should not be done under any circumstances. Also, the reasons for the increase and decrease in the crime rate should be reviewed at the police station and circle level and they should be removed.

Apart from this, the districts performing below 61 percent in property recovery were instructed to increase the property recovery percentage. Crime related figures of plain and hill districts should be evaluated separately. At the same time, instructions were given to take action against the wanted criminals and to take action by running a campaign to reunite the missing people with their families in Operation Smile.

Along with this, special signage boards, glowing boards, crash barriers etc. should be installed at such places by marking and verifying the hot spots of road accidents caused due to overloading in the last 10 years. Also, the general public has to face problems when the national highway is obstructed and the train is stopped during dharna/procession. Cases should be registered against such anti-social elements.

DGP Abhinav Kumar said that homework should be done from now onwards to ensure smooth conduct of Chardham Yatra in the coming year. In this regard, instructions were given to install electronic sign boards, mark holding area capacity and parking area, following the guidelines already issued from the headquarters level. Also, all the districts were directed to provide the problems and suggestions faced during the Chardham Yatra on priority within 01 week.
