Dehradun: Her Excellency President Draupadi Murmu, while inaugurating the 11th International Yoga Day in Dehradun, called yoga the center of India’s consciousness and heritage and also called it a strong example of India’s soft power.
Her Excellency the President said that yoga connects one person to another person, one community to another community and one country to another country. People from all over the world are benefiting from it.
She said that when a person is healthy; the family remains healthy. And when the family is healthy; the country remains healthy.
She inspired everyone to make yoga a way of life and appealed to all the institutions to make yoga accessible to the people.

Governor Lt. General Gurmeet Singh (Retd.) while extending his best wishes to the people of the state on the occasion of 11th International Yoga Day, highlighted the importance of Yoga. The Governor said that Yoga is a part of India’s most ancient cultural and spiritual tradition which has connected the whole world. It is a matter of happiness that today this day has become a symbol of health, peace and harmony not only for India but for the whole world.
The Governor said that Yoga is not just a physical exercise, but it is a process of balancing the body, mind and soul. It is a path of self-discipline, restraint and mental peace. He said that due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Yoga has become a global campaign today, and it is a matter of pride for all of us that the world is benefiting by accepting and adopting this heritage of India.
He said that the theme of International Yoga Day this year is “Yoga for One Earth One Health.” India’s eternal thought is the global expression of “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” which reminds us that our personal health, our nature, our environment and our social structure – all are deeply intertwined.
The Governor said that the practice of yoga holds special significance on a spiritual and natural land like Uttarakhand. On this occasion, he called upon the youth to make yoga a part of their daily lives and contribute to the creation of a healthy India.
On this occasion, Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal explained the features and goals of India’s first Yoga Policy-2025 prepared by Uttarakhand under the inspiration of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Said that this policy will create India’s first yoga entrepreneurship and research hub.
It has a capital grant of up to Rs 20 lakh for setting up yoga and meditation centers.
Research grant of up to Rs 10 lakh for yoga research work.
Arrangement for yoga research and remuneration reimbursement to promote yoga in existing institutions.
Priority is given to certification obtained through Yoga Certification Board for certification of yoga teachers.
Establishment of Yoga Directorate has also been included in its action plan.
The Cabinet Minister, while explaining the goals of Uttarakhand’s Yoga Policy 2025, said that –
Establishment of at least five new yoga hubs in Uttarakhand by the year 2030.
Availability of yoga services in all AYUSH Health and Wellness Centers of the state by March 2026.
Start of community-based mindfulness programs which will be developed keeping in mind the needs of different age, gender and class.
100% registration of yoga institutions will be ensured.
A special online yoga platform will be developed.
It also aims to develop partnerships with 15 to 20 national and international institutions by March 2028.
He said that we hope that this worthy policy will become a medium to connect the traditional knowledge, spiritual energy and cultural heritage of the state with contemporary opportunities.
