President Murmu appoints governors for several states, accepts Banwari Lal’s resignation

New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Union Territory Administrator Banwarilal Purohit. The President also appointed governors for several states across the country. Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has been appointed as the Governor of Punjab. He has also been appointed as the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

Along with this, Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as the Governor of Rajasthan. Along with this, Jishnu Dev Verma has been appointed as the Governor of Telangana, Om Prakash Mathur as the Governor of Sikkim and Santosh Kumar Gangwar as the Governor of Jharkhand. President Murmu has appointed Ramen Deka as the Governor of Chhattisgarh and CH Vijayshankar as the Governor of Meghalaya.

Jharkhand Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan, appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra, with additional charge of Telangana. Sikkim Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya has been appointed as the Governor of Assam. He has also been given the additional charge of Governor of Manipur. “These appointments will be effective from the date they assume charge of their respective offices,” an official release said.
